Description:

This scenic trail climbs up the east side of the Pine Valley Mountains to a ridge that overlooks Zion National Park and the Hurricane/Washington area. Cameras are a must! The trail switches back through Gamble Oak and boulders. This area can be very hot in the summer time; with limited water and abundant rattle snakes, hikers need to use caution. Most of this trail is located in the Pine Valley Mountain Wilderness, so please remember to practice Leave No Trace ethics. This is a difficult trail but the views are rewarding.

Directions:

From St. George -Take I-15 north for 13.5 miles, take the Leeds/Silver Reef exit (#22), turn left (west) towards Silver Reef. Stay on the Silver Reef road; it will turn to dirt and you will enter the Dixie National Forest . Continue on this road, know as the Oak Grove Road , about 10 miles till you reach the Oak Grove Campground. The trailhead is located within the campground.
