Description:
The Posey Lake Lookout Trail climbs from Posey Lake Campground to an historic, CCC constructed, lookout gazebo. The structure is not safe to enter, but the view is the same next to it as being in it. The trail is short and fairly steep, gaining almost 400 vertical feet in .7-mile. The summit offers outstanding views of Posey Lake and the surrounding John Allen Bottom country.
Directions:
From Escalante: Take Forest Service Road 153 north from Escalante for 14 miles to the junction with Forest Service Road 154, turn left on Road 154 for 1.2 miles to Posey Lake Campground. Follow the campground road to the left, until you reach the Trailhead.
